Knowledge-based engineering in the context of railway design by integrating BIM, BPMN, DMN and the methodology for knowledge-based engineering applications (MOKA)

Designing railway infrastructure is a knowledge-intensive task. Although there are number of mature design authoring systems available, their support for dynamically incorporating domain-specific engineering knowledge very limited. At the same time, standardized digital representation (such as building codes and best practice) does not exists. To overcome this deficiency, paper proposes use Knowledge Based Engineering (KBE) to automate routine tasks by considering multiple sources. In scenario, KBE used Railway system. ensure maximum transparency in developed application, graphical ‘Business Process Model Notation’ (BPMN) has been combination with ‘Decision (DMN) formalize underlying knowledge. The application according Methodology Knowledge-Based Applications (MOKA). An evaluation BPMN/DMN approach shows that it meets up 58% acceptance criteria found literature. addition, BPMN DMN can already be early capture phase MOKA its workflows into an executable subsequent phases. results test example discussed here show time savings 97.5% achieved execution application.
